Dyson showing his prize-find

Dyson started excavation at Hasanloo in 1957 and uncovered remains of its fortification, columned halls and temples. Hassanloo was situated on the trade route linking Assyria, Urartu, and the Mannean lands. Its site is at the south of lake Urmiyeh north of Mahabad. His reconstruction accounts for the city beeing sacked in 800 BC by Urartu. Click on the picture to go back.
